The Building

Welcome to the New Cambridge Lofts! Our building offers over 200 privately-owned units featuring stunning views of the River Valley, a prime central location, and direct access to the LRT and pedway system.First opening in 1968, the Cambridge was designed by architectural firm Richards Berretti and Jellinek as one of Edmonton's earliest highrise office buildings. The international-style tower contrasted greatly with the neighbouring Canadian Pacific Building (to the east), and the intent was that the Cambridge would be one-half of a larger final structure. The second half was never built. After suffering through the downturn and high vacancy rates of the 1990s, the Cambridge was offered a new lease on life. In 2002, it was purchased by Worthington Properties and remained a forward thinking building as it became one of Edmonton's first large-scale commercial to residential conversion projects

In 2011, major renovations were performed on the façade of the building. Visual appear was greatly improved, and much needed HVAC upgrades were also carried out in the commercials spaces, resulting in all streetfront and underground commercial units coming online after years of vacancy. The Cambridge is the only residential building in Edmonton to offer direct access to the LRT and downtown pedway system. Work continued, and 2014 proved to be a big year for the building. The City undertook extensive streetscaping work along Jasper Ave, which further increased the desirability of the surrounding neighbourhood and public spaces.Meanwhile, a large renovation project let by architect Sherri Shorten completely refreshed the common areas on every floor. Vibrantly coloured carpet, paint, and custom glass signage contribute to a dynamic, vibrant urban experience. Three different colour schemes (red, blue and lime) alternate from floor to floor.2014 also saw the renovation of the vintage elevator cab interiors which were now feature custom stainless steel and glass designs punctuated by feature walls designed by Shorten. The renovations were a resounding success with residents and the public alike, and the elevator project was featured in the Edmonton Journal's Style section on May 1, 2014.More recently, critical infrastructure work has been completed with the mechanical components of the three elevators being entirely upgraded and modernized in 2022. A brand new makeup air unit was brought online in fall 2025, and significant upgrades to the building's security and access system continue into 2026.
